Learning How To Remove That Access Password

By Trevor Johnson

This process is actually one that is very simple to do, and won't take you much time at all. But many people may wonder why they would want to remove Access password from their access program in the first place.

Depending on what you are keeping on this database program, you may not really want to remove your password. Information is more easily lost if many people have access to your programs. So really consider this before following the steps below.

Now if it's just because you forget that password all the time, you just may want to write it down, and leave the note you've written protected, although that's not particularly secure most times. However, the steps are listed below if you've decided that the password needs to be off.

Now head to the tools menu located at the top of the screen. Click on the option that says security. Here you will want to pick the Unset Database password choice. You will need to type in your old password to unset that password.

After you've entered your password click on the OK button and you're done. The next time that you go to open up Access no password will be required. You should only do this if you need to go on vacation and someone else will be using your Access program.

Close out your Access session, and when you go to open it the next time, you will not get a prompt for your password. You can always place a password back on again, but think before you do this to make sure you really want to do it. Ultimately, it's your choice as to whether or not you password protect your database.

It's very simple and as you can tell it shouldn't take you long to do at all. With the right software, finding the forgotten or lost password is surprisingly quick and easy. Which may make you re-think how you use passwords in future! Just make sure it's what you want to do before you do it.
